Particular Redemption

This sermon considers the doctrine of particular redemption. Some call this “limited atonement.” That title reflects the history but it does not capture the main point. Give some thought to this: everyone limits the atonement. Those who believe that Jesus died for every human being who ever lived or will live, must limit the atonement’s effectiveness. Those who believe that Jesus died for the elect alone, limit its extent. Particular redemption best describes the intent of Scripture that Jesus died specifically for His sheep. In my opinion, particular redemption clears up any confusion that may arise by the use of “limited atonement.”
